Astrophotography Made Simple Traditional astrophotography can require a telescope, mount, guide system, camera, controller, filters, power supply and processing workflow. The Seestar S30 Pro simplifies that into a portable all-in-one device controlled from your phone or tablet.
For Beginners Choose a target in the app, let the Seestar locate it, track it and start capturing. It removes much of the setup normally required for deep-sky imaging.
For Travellers At only 1.65kg without the tripod, the S30 Pro is easy to take to darker skies, campsites, coastal locations or weekend observing sessions.
For Backyard Imaging Built-in filters, automatic stacking and app-based processing help produce cleaner images even when shooting from suburban skies.
4K Dual-Lens Imaging The S30 Pro uses two imaging systems: a telephoto astronomy camera for deep-sky and solar system work, and a wide-angle camera for Milky Way, star trail, constellation and scenery shooting. Both lenses can capture 4K stills at 1x magnification.
| Lens / Camera | Sensor | Resolution | Field of View | Best Use |
| Telephoto Camera | Sony IMX585 | 3840 × 2160 at 1x | 4.6° | Nebulae, galaxies, star clusters, Moon, Sun and distant scenery. |
| Wide-Angle Camera | Sony IMX586 | 3840 × 2160 at 1x | 63° | Milky Way, star trails, wide sky scenes, landscapes and constellation overlays. |
Resolution note: both lenses shoot at 3840 × 2160 resolution at 1x. Resolution and real-time preview quality reduce when using higher digital magnification levels.
Quadruplet APO Optics for Sharper Stars The telephoto optical system uses a 4-element apochromatic design with ED glass. For the customer, the benefit is cleaner colour correction, sharper stars and a more refined image than a basic short telephoto lens.
-
✓30mm telephoto aperture for compact deep-sky imaging.
-
✓160mm telephoto focal length for a useful wide astro field.
-
✓f/5.3 telephoto focal ratio for balanced light gathering and portability.
-
✓4-element apochromatic optical system with ED glass.
-
✓Wide-angle lens uses a 6mm f/1.75 design for Milky Way and star trail work.
Four Main Imaging Modes The S30 Pro is not limited to one type of target. It is designed for deep-sky imaging, wide-field Milky Way work, solar system captures and daytime scenery.
Stargazing Uses the telephoto lens for deep-sky objects such as nebulae, galaxies and star clusters. Select a target and let the Seestar GoTo and track.
Milky Way Uses the wide-angle lens for wider sky scenes, Milky Way captures, star trails, time-lapse and constellation-style compositions.
Solar System Designed for solar system targets such as the Moon, Sun and planets. Always use the solar filter for safe solar viewing.
Scenery Works as a compact telephoto imaging device for distant landscapes, wildlife, birdwatching and daytime scenes.
Milky Way, Star Trails & 8K Stitching The wide-angle camera opens up creative options beyond normal telescope imaging. Capture the Milky Way, create star trails, record time-lapse clips or use stitching to build a larger 8K-style wide-sky composition.
Milky Way Capture Use the wide-angle lens to frame the sky and landscape together, ideal for travel and dark-sky trips.
Star Trails Record the motion of the stars over time for dramatic night-sky scenes.
One-Click Mosaic Built-in Milky Way stitching can create horizontal or vertical mosaics with a wider final composition.
App Control with Automatic GoTo & Tracking The Seestar app handles the control workflow. Once connected, you can choose a target, start GoTo, track the object, view the live image, capture photos or video, and apply supported image enhancement tools.
-
✓Smart app control from phone or tablet.
-
✓Automatic target locating, tracking, plate solving and focusing.
-
✓Object database and sky map guidance for easier target selection.
-
✓One-tap post-processing and DBE-style background balancing support.
-
✓Plan Mode lets you schedule targets in advance.
-
✓NFC one-touch connection support on compatible phones.
First activation requires an internet connection. After successful activation, the Seestar creates its own Wi-Fi hotspot for normal control, which can be useful in remote areas without cellular coverage.
Built-In Filters for Cleaner Results The S30 Pro includes an internal filter system to suit different targets and imaging conditions. This is especially useful for customers shooting from suburban skies where light pollution can reduce contrast.
| Filter | Included / Built-In | What It Helps With |
| UV/IR-Cut Filter | Built-in | Helps control unwanted ultraviolet and infrared light for cleaner normal colour imaging. |
| Duo-Band Filter | Built-in | OIII 30nm and H-alpha 20nm bandwidth filter for emission nebulae and light-polluted conditions. |
| Dark Filter | Built-in | Supports calibration and automated imaging workflows. |
| Magnetic Solar Filter | External filter included | Required for safe solar viewing and solar imaging. |
Solar safety: never point the Seestar S30 Pro at the Sun without the supplied solar filter correctly fitted. Direct solar viewing without the proper filter can damage the device.
Equatorial Mode Support The S30 Pro supports both Alt-Az and Equatorial Mode. Alt-Az mode is the simplest way to start, while Equatorial Mode is designed to counter Earth’s rotation, improve longer-exposure tracking and reduce field rotation.
Alt-Az Mode Best for simple setup. Recommended for first-time use and general smart telescope operation.
Equatorial Mode Helps compensate for Earth’s rotation and can improve deep-sky imaging results when correctly set up.
Accessory Note Additional accessories are required for Equatorial Mode. Use Alt-Az mode for the easiest first setup.
Storage, Connection & Power With 128GB internal storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and USB-C, the S30 Pro is built to be self-contained in the field. You can capture in common formats, store your files internally, and export them for editing later.
