SkyWatcher Evostar 80ED on AZ-EQ6 Refractor Telescope with Tripod Kit

The Skywatcher Evostar 80ED is an apochromatic doublet refractor that offers high performance for visual observers and astrophotographers. The objective lens features an element similar in performance to FPL-53, extra-low dispersion glass (ED) that minimizes the chromatic aberration for the best colour correction. As a result, planets and the moon are sharp at high magnification and in astrophotography, images have a high contrast as stars are not surrounded by the purple halo due to chromatic aberration.

The Evostar 80ED is available either on its own or with the 0.85x flattener/reducer for astrophotography.

The 2" Crayford focuser is solid, precise and backlash free. It operates at two speeds due to the 10:1 reduction mechanism for an extra fine focusing adjustment, which is paramount for astrophotography and high resolution observations.

The objective lens is fully multi coated with the Skywatcher proprietary "Metallic High-Transmission Coating" (MHC) for an effective anti-reflection result that approaches a transmission of 99.5%.

The aluminium tube is light-baffled and blackened to ensure high contrast absorbing stray light.

The Evostar 80 ED is an excellent telescope for astrophotography. Its chromatic correction is the highest of all the other Evostar telescopes and its small dimension and affordable price makes this telescope the best entry level apochromatic refractor for astrophotographers.

Its sharpness and colour correction makes this telescope ideal for sun and moon eclipses and sun observations (with a full aperture filter) especially with a Barlow lens to increase the focal length.

Specifications

The Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ6 SynScan mount gives optimal stability and pointing accuracy for a wide variety of heavy professional photo and video equipment. It is a hybrid mount with alt-azimuth capability for general use and equatorial capability for astrophotography use. Supplied with a SynScan handset with dual AZ/EQ firmware, it can automatically find and track 42,900+ celestial objects with its database.

AZ-EQ6 SynScan is capable of carrying heavy-duty photographic equipment for professional shooting and video recording. It is a very efficient transportable mount weighing only 15 kg, for a load capacity of 20 kg (counterweight excluded).

Freedom Find™ - tracking made easy!

With the patented Freedom Find (dual-encoder) technology which allows the telescope to be moved manually or electronically in either axis without losing its alignment or positional information. After moving to a new object the telescope will automatically begin to track the new object accurately. No re-setup is required in one observing session.
