About this product

Minelab GM10 Accessory Coil

Step up your gold prospecting setup with the Minelab GM10 Accessory Coil for the GOLD MONSTER 1000. This 10 x 6 inch elliptical Double-D search coil is designed to cover more ground per sweep while still maintaining good sensitivity for gold prospecting. It is ideal when you want a wider search area, improved ground coverage, and better depth potential compared with the smaller GM05 coil.

The GM10 is especially useful for open ground, exposed goldfield areas, dry creek beds, paddocks, tracks, and general prospecting locations where covering ground efficiently is important. Its elliptical shape gives a practical balance between coverage and control, while the Double-D coil design helps the detector maintain stable performance in mineralised ground.

Compatible Detector

Compatible With Minelab GOLD MONSTER 1000
Coil Family GOLD MONSTER 1000 GM Series coils
Important Compatibility Note GOLD MONSTER 1000 and GOLD MONSTER 2000 coils are not interchangeable.

What This Coil Is Best For

Open Ground Prospecting The larger 10 x 6 inch footprint helps cover more ground per sweep than the smaller GM05 coil.
Improved Coverage Useful when scanning wider areas, paddocks, exposed goldfields, dry creek beds, and tracks.
Depth Potential Provides increased depth potential compared with smaller coils, depending on target size, soil conditions, and detector settings.
Mineralised Ground The Double-D coil design is well suited to gold prospecting conditions where mineralisation can affect detector stability.
General Prospecting A practical all-round coil option for users wanting more coverage from their GOLD MONSTER 1000.

How to Install the GM10 Coil

  1. Turn the detector off. Always power down the GOLD MONSTER 1000 before changing coils.
  2. Disconnect the existing coil cable. Carefully unplug the current coil cable from the detector control box.
  3. Remove the existing coil. Loosen and remove the coil bolt from the lower shaft, then slide the existing coil away from the shaft yoke.
  4. Fit the GM10 coil to the lower shaft. Position the coil mounting ears between the lower shaft yoke, align the holes, and insert the coil bolt.
  5. Tighten by hand only. Tighten the coil bolt enough to hold the coil at the desired angle. Do not overtighten, as the coil should still be adjustable.
  6. Wrap the coil cable around the shaft. Wind the cable neatly up the lower and middle shaft. Leave a small amount of slack near the coil so it can tilt without straining the cable.
  7. Connect the coil cable. Plug the cable into the detector control box connection point and ensure it is seated securely.
  8. Check movement before detecting. Tilt the coil through its normal operating range and confirm the cable is not pulling, pinching, or stretched.
  9. Power on and test. Turn the detector on, perform normal startup, and begin detecting once the detector has stabilised.

Installation Tips

Cable Slack Leave enough slack at the bottom of the shaft so the coil can move freely without pulling on the cable.
Cable Wrapping Keep the cable snug against the shaft. A loose cable can move during swings and may cause unwanted noise or false signals.
Coil Angle Set the coil so it sits flat and level to the ground during normal sweeping.
Bolt Tension Tighten only enough to stop the coil from flopping. Avoid using tools or excessive force.
After Changing Coils Allow the detector to settle, then adjust sensitivity if needed for the ground conditions.

Care and Maintenance

After Use Wipe dirt, sand, and moisture from the coil and cable after detecting.
Skidplate Check Regularly check the skidplate for wear, especially if detecting on rocky or abrasive ground.
Cable Care Avoid sharp bends, pulling, crushing, or over-tight wrapping of the coil cable.
Storage Store clean and dry, away from excessive heat, heavy pressure, or sharp objects.
Cleaning Use fresh water and a soft cloth when needed. Do not use harsh solvents or abrasive cleaners.

Important Notes

  • This is an accessory coil for the Minelab GOLD MONSTER 1000 only.
  • It is not compatible with the GOLD MONSTER 2000 or other Minelab detector ranges.
  • The larger 10 x 6 inch size is better suited to wider ground coverage than tight, confined areas.
  • For very tight spaces or maximum manoeuvrability, the smaller GM05 coil may be preferred.
  • Depth and sensitivity will vary depending on ground mineralisation, target size, detector settings, and sweep technique.
