Konus Konusnova 70 D70 F800 Refractor Telescope
Authorised Dealer
Designed and built for beginners, the Konus KonusNova-70 70mm f/11 Alt-Az Refractor Telescope offers a complete observational rig for viewing the moon, planets, meteor showers, and satellites—with the ability to use it as a conventional spotting scope for nature and bird watching.
The scope features a conventional and reliable refractor light path with a generous 70mm aperture and long focal length that allows you to easily view all kinds of astronomical objects. Two eyepieces are included that produce 40x and 100x, with a 2x Barlow lens that effectively doubles the magnification of each eyepiece. A 45° diagonal is also provided to put the user in a more comfortable viewing position whether you're looking at the moon high overhead or boats out on the water from a balcony. A 1.5x low power erecting eyepiece corrects the image orientation horizontally and vertically to view terrestrial objects in comfort. Its adjustable aluminum tripod provides a stable observation platform, and its adjustable height from 31 to 48" allows for comfortable viewing by most users. Additional accessories include a filter that allows you to safely view the moon, and a red-dot finder scope that makes finding object fast and star-hopping navigation easy.
Optical Tube Assembly
- 70mm aperture is ideal for observing the moon and planets with the ability to see bright deep-sky objects like star clusters
- 800mm f/11.8 focal length produces a high magnification potential for details observations at high power
- Classic refractor-style optical design is reliable, easy to clean, and requires no future alignment from the user
- Sturdy and reliable rack-and-pinion focuser with 1.25" holder
Mount and Tripod
- Simple and intuitive manual alt-azimuth
- Single-arm fork design is solid and stable while remaining lightweight

- Accepts most 1.25" eyepieces
- 1.25" diameter barrel
- Accepts most 1.25" astronomical filters
- 8mm eyepiece yields a high 100x power for making detailed observations of the moon and planets
- 20mm eyepiece produces 40x magnification, which maintains a wide field of view for comet watching or viewing entire constellations
- Extremely low-power 1.5x erect-image eyepiece allows you to use the telescope as a conventional spotting scope and expand its functionality
- Installs into the front of each eyepiece
- Neutral density filter improves contrast, especially of craters and mountains
- Reduces the brightness of the moon for safe viewing
- Useful from first quarter through full into the last quarter phase
- Installs in the focuser and accepts any 1.25" eyepiece
- Effectively doubles the magnification of any eyepiece used with it
- Increases magnification without affecting eye relief, making high-power viewing more comfortable than using extremely short focal length eyepieces
