About this product

More Precision. More Depth. More Gold.

GOLD MONSTER 2000™ tracks ultra-fine gold with sharper precision in mineralised ground using Minelab’s Multi-Au™ technology, which combines VLF sensitivity and a Pulse Induction soil handling engine.

Echo Wave™ Audio makes it easier to identify valuable targets by distinguishing weak gold signals from hot rocks, iron trash and interference. A real-time Gold Chance Indicator provides visual feedback on the likelihood of detecting gold versus junk, while the carbon-fibre telescopic shaft delivers portability without sacrificing durability.

Light and Compact

With a lighter swing, this detector weighs just 1.25 kg (2.75 lbs) and collapses to 65 cm (25.6 in), making it easy to transport and comfortable to use all day.

Large Target ID Display

The Target ID display delivers numeric feedback that makes it easier to separate promising gold signals from background clutter.

Fully Automatic Operation

The detector automatically adjusts ground balance and sensitivity in real time, adapting to changing soil. This streamlined design lets gold seekers focus on detecting without stopping to fine-tune settings.

Audio Output

Clear audio through the built-in speaker, or plug in wired earbuds using the 3.5 mm (1/8") jack to isolate sound in any environment.

Multi-Au™ Technology with Hybrid SMF-PI

Minelab's new Multi-Au simultaneous multi-frequency engine combines the ultra-fine sensitivity of VLF with the superior ground-handling capability of a Pulse Induction soil-handling engine. This advanced signal processing improves responsiveness to small or difficult targets by maintaining signal clarity and reducing ground noise in mineralised soils. The result is powerful, stable detection across challenging goldfields without sacrificing precision or depth.

Gold Chance Indicator

The real-time Gold Chance Indicator displays a dynamic gauge that shifts as the detector analyses a target, showing the probability of gold versus ferrous trash. This instant feedback helps inform decisions and reduce time spent on unwanted targets.

Echo Wave™ Audio

Highly sensitive detection audio is layered with target discrimination tones to clearly differentiate valuable targets from surrounding clutter, including ferrous junk, hot rocks and background noise, while preserving sensitivity, clarity and depth. Receive accurate target identification even in mineralised soil and challenging goldfields.

Auto Noise Cancel

On startup, Automatic Noise Cancelling actively scans for sources of electromagnetic interference, including power lines and nearby electronics, then adjusts operating frequencies to reduce signal noise. The result is more stable performance, clearer audio and reliable signals in mineralised or noisy ground.

Coil

Waterproof up to 1 m (3.3 ft), the GM2000-05 5" Round Double-D Coil is designed for versatility and precision. Its compact size makes it ideal for detecting in tight spaces and allows for high sensitivity to the smallest gold nuggets.

Easy-Trak and Quick-Trak Ground Balance

Powered by Multi-Au™, automatic Easy-Trak and manual Quick-Trak adjust to changing ground conditions in real time, providing extreme precision and control, reducing false signals and improving target detection. Easy-Trak automatically monitors and adjusts to ground variations, helping maintain a stable signal and reduce false responses. Quick-Trak enables fast, manual ground balance adjustment. Press the button to retune immediately when moving across hot rocks or shifting soil conditions. Maintain peak sensitivity and depth in mineralised ground without interruption.

Manual & Auto Sensitivity

Manual and Auto Sensitivity let you tailor performance to conditions. Choose from 10 manual levels for precise control, or switch to Auto Sensitivity for adaptive operation. Auto applies a lower sensitivity setting for stability, while Auto Plus increases sensitivity to enhance target signal feedback.

Control / Feature What it does When to use it What you’ll see / hear
Power On & Auto Noise Cancel Starts the detector and automatically clears local electrical noise for a clean signal. Every time you switch on (happens automatically). Noise Cancel icon flashes; Gold Chance bar sweeps for ~5–7 sec.
Sensitivity: Auto & Auto+ Lets the detector set gain for you. Auto runs smooth/quiet. Auto+ is more aggressive for extra depth (may sound a bit “busier”). Auto+ to start a site or chase depth. Drop to Auto if ground is noisy. A number shows inside the sensitivity meter (nearest manual level).
Sensitivity: Manual (1–10) You choose how “hot” the detector runs. Higher = more depth/responds to tiny gold, but also more ground noise. When you want full control or to fine-tune tricky patches. Selected level (1–10) shows on the sensitivity gauge.
Ground Type (Search Mode) Difficult tames heavy mineralisation/salt; Normal for typical mineralised ground; Benign for quiet soils, max depth. Start in Auto+, try Normal. If chatty, switch to Difficult. Use Benign only where soil is very quiet. Mode icon updates on screen when you cycle modes.
Ground Balance (Tracking & Rapid GB) Constantly tracks the soil so gold stands out. Hold GB to force a quick re-balance if conditions change. Mostly automatic. Use Rapid GB only if the hum/threshold won’t settle after moving areas. Coil icon flashes during Rapid GB; threshold stabilises in ~5 sec.
Echo Wave™ Audio (On/Off) Adds a “quick ID” tone: high = likely gold (non-ferrous), low = iron/hot rock. Keeps depth performance. Use when you want fast dig/no-dig decisions without staring at the screen. Three stars ✦✦✦ show when Echo Wave is on; you’ll hear high/low tones.
Volume (1–12) Sets loudness of the speaker or earbuds. Anytime—match to wind level and your hearing. On-screen volume bar; ✦✦✦ shows if Echo Wave is active.
Target ID (0–99) Shows a number that reflects the target’s conductivity. Larger/higher-conductive items tend to read higher. Use alongside Gold Chance and audio to decide whether to dig. Number pops up for ~5 sec after a hit (or until next target).
Gold Chance Indicator Simple left/right bar: left = likely iron/hot rock, right = likely non-ferrous (gold). Glance-able confirmation to pair with the tone and TID number. If jumpy, it may be big iron or difficult ground; if blank, it’s a faint/uncertain hit—keep checking.
Display / Backlight Monochrome LCD. No screen or keypad backlight. Daytime use or with your own headlamp/torch at night. Clean, simple icons; no illumination controls.
Factory Reset Restores all settings to defaults. If you want a fresh start after heavy tweaks. Hold Power ~6–7 sec until “FP” appears; a tone will play.
Wireless Audio / Iron Bias Not applicable: no wireless audio; no Iron Bias setting on this model. Use the built-in speaker or the included 3.5 mm earbuds. No menu options for these features.

Quick tip: Start in Auto+ for a site scan, then try Normal. If the threshold chatters, switch to Difficult. Use Benign only where soil is very quiet.
