The Celestron 9x50 Right Angle Correct Image (RACI) Finder is a great upgrade to the stock finderscopes found on many Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. The 50 mm optics produce bright, sharp images with a magnification of 9X and a 5§ apparent field of view. Meanwhile, the right-angle, correct-image design keeps objects right-side up and left-to-right correct, making it easier to locate objects as well as track them as they drift through the field of view. The eyepiece module can be rotated left or right so you can find the perfect viewing angle.
The double reticle etched in the eyepiece makes it easy to center an object, whether you are aligning your computerized telescope or finding deep-sky objects on your own. The reticle can be focused separate from the finder itself. A battery-powered illuminator lights up the crosshair with a soft, red glow, and the illumination can be easily adjusted by turning the on/off knob.
The Celestron 9x50 RACI Finder comes with a sturdy bracket consisting of two rings and an integrated dovetail. Adjusting the alignment of the finder is easy with the oversized thumbscrews. The dovetail allows for easy attachment to and removal from most Schmidt-Cassegrain and EdgeHD optical tube assemblies without affecting the alignment of the finderscope.
After initial difficulty in aligning the telescope, the staff were very helpful in sorting out the problem. The finderscope is very accurate and makes alignment very simple.
Nice finderscope, very good quailty. Was not going to put the cheap red dot finder scope on my Evolution 9.25 Cassigrain. Love the Illuminated cross hairs and the right angle find means no getting into straining positions to find anything. Nothing beats a good optical finderscope, and this one is compact and solid. One compliant people go on about is no instructions, but it's straight forward did not need instructions. A great buy, and I bought this alongside my Celestron 9.25 and got it very quick, as well as outstanding service.
Small angle deviations in target alignment translates to several light years of error. The finderscope is a great accessory to replace the stock red dot alignment device that comes with the Celestron SE 8. Installation was somewhat problematic as there was no accompanying manual and no information on the Celestron website, but not difficult to figure out. The optics are excellent and the illuminated reticle has a crisp projection. The construction is high quality. A recommended accessory if you want to avoid a hard nights work of images go to waste.
