Steady 8× detail

Eight-power magnification is forgiving of hand movement and makes it easy to acquire a bird quickly, then keep it in frame as it moves through branches, open sky or a busy background.

Compact 32 mm objectives

The smaller objective diameter reduces bulk and keeps the binocular easy to pack, carry and raise often. A 4.0 mm exit pupil still provides a comfortable daylight view for general birding and outdoor use.

Fully multi-coated lenses and prisms

Multiple anti-reflective coating layers across the optical system improve light transmission and help maintain a clear, high-contrast field of view.

Phase-corrected roof prisms

Phase correction helps preserve resolution, contrast and accurate colour as light passes through the compact roof-prism system. Kowa launch data identifies a C2-coated prism system for the SV III.

Kowa KR protective coating

Applied to the exposed objective and eyepiece surfaces, KR coating repels water and oil, resists dirt and makes fingerprints or field residue easier to remove correctly.

4.0 mm exit pupil

Dividing the 32 mm objective diameter by 8× magnification gives a 4.0 mm exit pupil. That is well matched to general daylight observation and helps keep the compact format comfortable without the additional size of 42 mm objectives.

Move the two barrels around the centre hinge until the left and right images merge comfortably for your eye spacing.

The SV III family offers 8× and 10× magnifications in 32 mm and 42 mm formats. The 8×32 is the compact wide-field choice: 485 g, 152 m at 1,000 m and a 2.0 m close focus make it particularly attractive for active birding, travel and everyday carry.

Choose 8×32 for portability and the widest field

Best suited to travel, bush walks, urban birding, gardens, woodland, fast-moving subjects and observers who want a compact binocular that is easy to carry and quick to aim.

Choose 8×42 for more brightness and eye relief

The 8×42 provides larger 42 mm objectives, a 5.3 mm exit pupil and 20 mm eye relief. It is the stronger choice for softer light, longer viewing sessions and many spectacle wearers, but it is larger and heavier.

Choose 10×32 when extra reach matters more

The 10×32 retains the compact chassis while increasing magnification for more distant detail. The 8×32 is steadier and offers a substantially wider field, making it easier for close-to-medium birding and subjects in motion.

Set up once, then simply focus

A clear view in a few straightforward steps.

Correct eye position and dioptre calibration let the optical system show its full field and keep both eyes sharp. After that, the central wheel handles normal near-to-far focusing.

Set the eyecups
Retract the twist-up eyecups if you wear glasses; extend them if you do not. Fine-tune the position until the full field appears without dark crescents or blackouts.
Set the barrel spacing
Look through both eyepieces and move the barrels around the centre hinge until the two images merge into one comfortable circular view.
Focus the left channel
Set the right-eye dioptre index to zero, close or cover the right eye, then use the centre focus wheel to sharpen a detailed subject with the left eye.
Calibrate the right-eye dioptre
Keep the main focus position unchanged, view through the right eye only and rotate the dioptre ring until the same subject is sharp.
Use the centre focus wheel normally
With the dioptre calibrated, view with both eyes and turn the central wheel to move from the 2.0 m close-focus distance through to infinity.
