About this product

Buy the XP ICON 28FMF RC metal detector with WSA ST wireless stereo headphones in New Zealand. SKU ICON-28FMFRCWSAST combines XP FMF® simultaneous multi-frequency detection, a versatile 28 cm / 11-inch FMF search coil, ICON remote control, blue S-Telescopic Lite stem and lightweight WSA ST headphones. It offers three ready-to-use factory programmes plus three user slots, 4 kHz and 14 kHz mono choices, five reactivity levels, 28-segment Multi-Notch, advanced PWM and Square audio, visual and audio pinpointing, an approximately 11-hour system runtime and USB updates. The detector weighs approximately 845 g with its remote fitted, folds to approximately 58 cm and supports fields, parks, beaches, pasture and general treasure hunting. IP68 use to 5 m requires the optional XP BH-02 bone-conduction headphones and waveguide; the included WSA ST headphones are rainproof, not submersible.
Designed to detect. Built to explore.

XP ICON overview

Power without the learning wall.

The ICON brings proven XP FMF processing into a streamlined detector that is ready in two steps: power on, choose a programme. Its remote, coil and headphones communicate over XP’s ultra-low-latency wireless link, so there is no coil cable to snag and no Bluetooth delay between the target and your ears.

Fast Multi Frequency

One sweep. A wider target picture.

FMF® programmes process multiple frequencies simultaneously instead of making you choose one before the hunt. Lower frequencies favour larger, higher-conductive targets; higher frequencies improve response to small and lower-conductive targets. ICON combines both in its factory programmes, with selected programme ranges extending up to 40 kHz.

FMFSimultaneous multi-frequency with automatic or manual frequency shift.
4 / 14 kHzSelectable mono frequencies when a single-frequency approach is useful.
Three factory programmes

Choose the ground. Start detecting.

ICON keeps the programme list deliberately focused. Each factory profile starts from a tuned combination of FMF range, reactivity, audio and rejection settings; each can also become the basis for one saved user programme.

Programme 01

Field

The general-purpose profile for cleaner land, pasture and ploughed fields, with processing designed to reduce the effect of soil moisture.

Programme 02

Park

Tuned for coins and worthwhile targets in recreational areas where foil, bottle caps and modern iron trash are common.

Programme 03

Beach & Surf

A stable marine profile for dry sand, wet salt zones and surf, while retaining useful sensitivity across target sizes.

Three user programme slotsFine-tune a factory profile, then save one custom version for each factory programme.

Target identification

See the target. Hear the context.

The large LCD pairs a numeric Target ID with a 28-segment conductivity and notch bar. Discrimination rejects everything below a selected threshold; Multi-Notch can silence a narrower conductivity window while retaining targets above and below it.

Information at a glanceTarget ID, conductivity bar, depth gauge, programme, ground tracking and battery status.
Advanced target audio

Build the sound language you trust.

Choose a familiar category-based tone layout or a more continuous response. ICON gives you XP’s dynamic PWM character, the softer Square profile and Stereo Audio Morphing for extra surface-target information through compatible stereo headphones.

2, 3 or 5 tones

Sort conductivity groups into a small number of memorable audio categories.

Full Tones

Pitch rises in proportion to Target ID, giving each conductivity value its own audible place.

Pitch mode

Signal strength changes pitch and volume for a fast, dynamic sense of target size and proximity.

PWM or Square

Choose XP’s harmonic, informative PWM sound or a softer Square profile with fixed harmonics.

Stereo Audio Morphing

A secondary sound overlays shallow surface targets, with a subtle stereo chorus effect to make their character easier to recognise through the included WSA ST.

Adjustable recovery speed

Five levels of target separation.

Reactivity controls how quickly ICON analyses successive targets. Higher values help separate good responses beside iron or dense modern trash; lower values extend the response and can favour depth in cleaner ground.

Lower reactivityLonger responses and stronger depth emphasis for cleaner sites.
Higher reactivityFaster recovery and improved separation where targets are close together.
WSA ST wireless stereo

The faint response stays connected.

WSA ST uses XP’s proprietary radio system rather than ordinary Bluetooth, keeping audio closely aligned with the coil position. The headset pairs to the remote, powers on and off with the detector, folds for transport and lets you adjust volume directly at the ear.

Important: WSA ST is rainproof, not a diving headset. Full underwater listening requires the optional XP BH-02 bone-conduction headphones and the appropriate waveguide.

XP Go Terrain compatible

Turn a hunt into a searchable record.

Connect ICON to the XP Go Terrain smartphone app to map a detected area with your phone’s GPS, view targets along the route and record finds. ICON can send targets automatically as they are detected or manually when you choose.

Land, rain and water

Waterproof platform. The right audio matters.

ICON is IP68 rated for submersion to 5 m for up to 30 minutes when configured with XP’s required underwater accessories. For normal land and beach use, this package’s WSA ST keeps the setup wireless and rainproof.

Included WSA STRainproof wireless stereo audio for land, wet weather and beach use above water.
Optional BH-02Required with the waveguide for full underwater use to the detector’s 5 m rating.
For underwater use, fit the correct waveguide and keep the BH-02 connected. After immersion, rinse with fresh water, dry the connection area fully and follow the official manual before resealing the USB-C cap.
