Celestron engineers designed NexStar Evolution based on years of customer feedback. It offers many thoughtful design features that combine to provide you with the best possible experience out under the stars.
Forget about batteries or an external power supply. For the first time ever on a consumer telescope, NexStar Evolution includes its own built-in battery. With this ultra-long life lithium-iron-phosphate battery, you'll be able to enjoy stargazing marathons up to 10 hours on a single charge. You can even use NexStar Evolutions USB charge port to top off the other devices in your life that need to stay powered on during an observing session. An intelligent power management system senses when battery levels are low and go into power-saving mode to keep your telescope running for as long as possible.
Setting up your NexStar Evolution is quick and painless with large, ergonomic handles. The all-metal tripod features a metal accessory tray with indentations for storing and carrying the tripod. During setup, leg etchings help you achieve a level, uniform height for your telescope. Manual clutches in both altitude and azimuth offer greater flexibility to manually point the telescope when powered off. Store up to 7 eyepieces in 2 accessory trays, one with an adjustable red LED illuminator.
Superior tracking fit for astroimaging
If you're interested in astroimaging, the 8-inch NexStar Evolution is an excellent, affordable way to get started. Its the only fork-mounted telescope in its price range that offers brass worm gears, along with improved motors. NexStar Evolutions tracking accuracy is so impressive, you can capture images of deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula by simply attaching your DSLR camera. As you progress in the hobby of astroimaging, you can add our HD Pro Wedge to achieve longer exposures for more detailed astrophotos. NexStar Evolution compatible with the wedge when used with the CPC tripod (sold separately).
Of course, the Schmidt-Cassegrain optical system offers bright, sharp views with StarBright XLT optical coatings a great choice for visual observers and budding astroimagers alike.
NexStar Evolution is equipped with 4 auxiliary ports--2 on top of the fork and 2 on the bottom. A classic NexStar+ hand control is included but is not necessary when using NexStar Evolution with the mobile app. The telescope also includes a StarPointer finderscope, two 1.25 Plossl eyepieces, a 1.25 star diagonal, and an AC adapter.

New ZealandAmazing service and great scope
TLDR - Amazingly fast delivery from order, Great scope out of the box and StarSense auto align was much easier to set up and get working that I had expected by using the skyPortal app. Full review. Firstly just want to mention the super fast delivery from Jacobs Digital, We ordered this telescope and the StarSense auto alignment system on Dec 2nd and it arrived on Dec 3rd! It was for a gift and so was not opened until later in December. Now that it is opened and we have had one night of reasonable viewing I can review the scope. The Celestron packaging was great and everything arrived undamaged and in great condition. Assembly is easy and intuitive, I'd watched a couple of you tube videos of the process while waiting to open it and it was all very easy, I feel I could happily take it out in the field and assemble it after just this one time. The views through the supplied eyepieces (40mm and 13mm) are clear and sharp, My son and I were able to view Jupiter, Uranus, the Orion Nebula and check out/separate Alpha Centauri A & B on the one night we have had so far, in less than ideal conditions. We will be getting some more eyepieces at some point for closer planetary viewing after some research but the views we got were already the best I've experienced through a telescope. I was initially not going to try and set up the StarSense auto align that night due to some passing cloud and I had read some people had trouble if their view of the sky was not wide enough and we could only see a little over half the sky from out location but as I had attached it to the scope earlier that day I decided to just give alignment and calibration a go. I used the skyPortal app on my phone and no other instructions and it worked perfectly even with the less than ideal conditions, I was very impressed and decided that the clearer skies here in New Zealand must make it a lot easier even in an uban area.

Superb telescope. Set up is a breeze and the three star auto align works every time in my experience …2 minute job with three bright stars. Driving via Star Portal on my iPhone and built in wifi. Again no problems and allowing me to focus on the good stuff! Already put it through its paces with Saturn, Moon and globular clusters.

I jumped straight into this 8inch and some binoculars. So far good shots of moon detail. Waiting for clear skies to align it but impressed with optics and wifi control system. Excellent service from Jacob's Digital work prompt delivery. The freighter tracking system for the scope didn't tell me anything useful and I had to call their depot to find out it was already sitting there for pick up but helpful when I called.
