About this product

The Orion GiantView BT-120 90° Binocular Telescope is our largest binocular to date, and delivers an incredibly bright image and immersive field of view. Using two eyes instead of squinting through one eye provides a much more natural observing experience, and with the large 120mm aperture, these binoculars gather 44% more light than our 100mm unit! High resolution optics provide incredible lunar detail, and deep-sky objects take on a life of their own with an almost 3D feel in the GiantView BT-120. And we absolutely love the 90° angle, which provides the most comfortable viewing angle when aiming high into the night sky. And of course, if you have a room with a view of terrestrial vistas, the BT-120 will work equally well for magnifying distant landscapes.

The GiantView BT-120 Binocular Telescope twin objectives have a focal length of 660mm (f/5.5) and include a pair of 18mm 65° 1.25" eyepieces which provide 37x magnification and a 1.8° field of view. Individual eyepiece focusers provide precise focus control, while compression rings hold the eyepieces securely in place.

Like our entire line of Binocular Telescopes, one of our favorite features of the BT-120 is the ability to use pairs of 1.25" eyepieces to control the magnification depending on the object in view (requires two identical 1.25" eyepieces to work). 28mm field stops minimizes vignetting with even wide field of view eyepieces. For the best results, we recommend using pairs of 8mm or longer focal length 1.25" eyepieces with the BT-120.

And because you can use standard astronomical 1.25" eyepieces, you can also use pairs of 1.25" light pollution filters to significantly improve contrast while observing deep sky objects. Try a pair of Orion UltraBlock Narrowband filters while looking at something like the Orion Nebula, and you might find it hard to peel your eyes away. In darker locations with the 1.25" Orion O-III nebula filters, the fine tendrils of the Eastern Veil nebula (NGC 6992) spill across the field of view. And of course, Orion SkyGlow Broadband Light Pollution filters work to boost the contrast of all objects when viewed from light polluted skies.

Thanks to the sealed construction and nitrogen purged body, the rugged BT-120 is waterproof for use in damp conditions, but it's not designed for permanent outdoor placement. The GiantView BT-120 weighs 20.25 lbs. and requires a very solid mount for stable support. We've also included a finder scope dovetail shoe to allow attachment of any Orion brand finder to the top handle to aid in aiming at objects in the night sky. A built-in 1/4"-20 socket allows secure mount or dovetail plate attachment. NOTE: Standard camera tripods are not recommended for use with the GiantView BT-120. And to protect your investment, the BT-120 fits into an included heavy duty hard-shell and foam-lined case.
